Moroccan for the Masses!

If you don't already know about her, you need to check out Amber Lewis.  She is an emerging interior designer who just got a shout out in Elle Decor's Blogger's Choice.  She infuses her interiors with that laid back, California hippie chick vibe that is a mix of fun, comfort, thrift, and funk.  Here's some of her work:

If you are feeling Amber's vibe, West Elm is too!  They launched this today:

All of these items are available right now!

Not sure, but I think Amber would approve.

More Bathroom Progress!!!

We have more progress on the itsy bitsy teeny weeny bathroom reno!
Look at this floor!

This tile is a great way to bring pattern into the bathroom and add a graphic punch.

Next up, choosing a paint color for the vanity.

Work Stuff

Thought I would share a bit of work stuff today.
My current project is a clubhouse for a student housing development in College Station, Texas.
I was inspired by images from Commune Design.

The starting point was these great rugs. I found two of them at e Carpet Gallery and the other on Overstock.com.  E Carpet Gallery has great deals and they don't mind if you make them an offer.  I scored the large patterned rug for half off.

Here are some of the furniture selections for the space.

This project will install in June.  I can't wait to share the finished result!

Bathroom Progress

I am so excited!  There is progress on the itsy bitsy teeny weeny bathroom reno!

Wall, ceiling, and floor has been tiled.
  Charcoal grout has been applied.
AND
I am this much closer to sleeping in my queen size bed again!

(This bath is connected to our master bedroom, so we are sleeping in the guest bedroom on a full size bed and  I feel really guilty about the horrible sleeping experience that I unknowingly put all of my houseguests through).

Next comes this amazing floor tile:

from Villa Lagoon Tiles located in Mobile, AL.

They have a fabulous selection of cement tiles, which can be custom colored in larger quantities.
Here are some of my faves:

Tile perfection.

Etsy Art

I love art.
I fell in love with art in elementary school when we visited the art museum on a field trip and have always dreamed of filling my home with it.
So, I have been scouring Etsy for some great, affordable art and thought I would share my finds.

Destination: Austin, Texas

We put on our boots and headed to Austin, Texas to catch up with some friends this past weekend.

WHERE WE ATE
(this is always the most important part of any trip)

Perla's - yummy crabcake sandwich + hushpuppies + great outdoor patio = fabulous lunch

Steiner Ranch Steakhouse - glass of wine + unbelievable filet + sunset overlooking a lake = heaven.

Salt Lick BBQ - brisket + sausage + turkey + ribs = meat lover's dream

Hopdoddy - gourmet burgers + homemade shakes = gluttony

WHAT WE DID
(when weren't busy eating, that is)

Sampled some wine at the wineries around Driftwood.

Danced at the oldest dance hall in Gruene.

Shopped at the Gruene General Store and Gruene Antique Company.

Hit the stores on South Congress.  Faves were Allen's Boots, Uncommon Objects (funky antiques), leighelena (jigsaw bracelets), by george (great clothes).
Drinks at the Driskill Hotel.

Listened to live music on 6th street.

And then I came back to reality.  At least the weekend is only a few days away!
